Vector files for print on demand

Print on demand punishes low-resolution uploads. Trace the artwork into paths once and it is sharp on a sticker, a shirt and a two-metre banner.

Wat de software nodig heeft

5 vereisten
Resolution independence
A vector file has no resolution, so one file covers a sticker and a banner. The upload rejection for "image too small" stops applying.
A palette the process can hold
Screen printing needs one screen per colour and DTG does not, so trace to the number the process quoted rather than to the number that looks nicest.
Real transparency, no white plate
A traced PNG keeps its alpha as holes in the geometry. A JPG source has no alpha, so delete the background path before uploading or it prints as a white rectangle.
PDF or SVG, depending on the storefront
Most print-on-demand back ends take PDF or SVG. Both hold the same geometry here; send whichever their upload form names first.
Rights you actually have
Tracing a mark does not create a licence to print it. That is a legal question about the artwork, not a technical one about the file.

Voorinstelling

Logo

The logo preset traces flat artwork with a sixteen-colour palette and spline fitting — enough colours for most designs, smooth enough for a poster, and low enough in nodes that the file opens quickly in a storefront preview.

Vragen

3 vragen
01Will tracing fix a low-resolution upload?
It fixes the resolution, not the information. A traced 200-pixel logo is sharp at any size, but the edge positions come from 200 pixels of evidence, so soft details stay approximate. It is a large improvement over upscaling and not a substitute for the original file.
02SVG or PDF for a print-on-demand upload?
Whichever the storefront lists. Both contain the same traced paths — the exporters are two writers over one document — so there is no quality difference between them.
03Is my customer artwork uploaded to your servers?
No. The tracer runs as WebAssembly in this tab, so customer artwork never reaches us. That is the whole reason the engine is client-side rather than a queue on a box somewhere.
